The Orchard at Tesco

I've been doing a lot of work on my personal budget recently, and as part of that I was delighted to discover that Tesco has a programme for Clubcard holders where you can try some of their products for free or at a reduced price.

I signed up, and was really pleased to be invited to try a product for less really quickly.

I was sent some vouchers for money off their fresh fish. Me and Mat went along to Tesco to decide what to try for dinner and settled on some rainbow trout.

I love cooking fish, and always try and cook it simply to allow the natural flavours to come out. I cooked it under the grill with a brush of olive oil, a sprinkle of salt, pepper and parsley and then some lemon slices on top.

This gave it a delicious seasoned natural taste without being overpowering. Grilling is also super healthy for you!

I served it with some bread and butter and stirfried veg - baby corn, baby courgette and mange tout (all also from tesco). I fried the veg in a little bit of garlic butter.

Beautiful piece of fish with delicate flavours. Reminded us of salmon but with more of a white fish texture.

I really enjoy a meal when it is simple food done well, and we definitly got that from this rainbow trout.

Great quality and very reasonably priced (even more so when you can #tryitforless!), thanks Tesco - looking forward to enjoying some more fresh fish from your store soon.

I do find I sometimes get stuck in a rut with my cooking though. I posted this on my Facebook wall and asked friends how they cook fish. My friend in America suggested I use aluminum pouches.

How would you have cooked this fish? What should I try in the future? Let me know in the comments below!
