Comic-con!

I've always been a bit of a Geek. Whether you choose geek to be defined as that brainy kid who annoyingly ALWAYS had the answer at school, or someone who is just a tad too OCD about organising, or simply someone who becomes hugely enthusiastic about a hobby or interest - that's me.

So you tell me how I had never managed to go to Comic-con or similar over the last few years? I don't know....it's beyond my comprehension too!

But this year was different. I went and it was AWESOME! Anyone who knows me knows I love dressing up and it was a tough call deciding who to be. In the end budget and time meant I had to utilise whatever I already had, perhaps plus a couple extras, which resulted in my uber-cool (though not especially feminine) Marty McFly cosplay!

I have to say though, when I saw all the different ladies in varying degrees of sexiness I did begin to regret not going for a more attractive costume, but *meh* such is life!

I wish I could begin to comment on the amazing things that I saw. Marsha screaming, crying and running from a cyberman (when she didn't even know what one was) was pretty memorable, meeting 3 Doctors and Captain Jack who all looked like their characters was VERY VERY cool, and seeing a woman dressed as Jareth has made me torn between being Sarah or Jareth!

For me the most amazing part of the whole event was this complete feeling of "together-ness". Ok that sounds very corny I know, but it's true. Everyone was admiring each others costumes, taking pictures together, laughing and joking and playing games. Despite the vast number of people, and often long ques I didn't see anyone getting bitchy or angry. No-one was arguing - everyone was just there to have a good time. And more so - making sure each other had a good time.

I really don't think there are many sub-cultures or large events that can say the same. When was the last time you felt that same atmosphere at a football game or concert. Heck when was the last time you got on the tube without wanting to kill someone? Because even crammed onto the DLR, freezing on the platforms (a lot of cosplay costumes are not noted for their warmth) or desperatly wanting to find a sandwich - everyone was just so chilled out. Excitable, hyper, in full character mode or geeking out at something awesome - but chill all the same. And that made me very happy.

Now I can't WAIT for the Sci-Fi weekender in March. It's going to be an amazing weekend!

Brief Update

Yet again with the bad blogging. Bad. bad blogger! So here is a brief rundown on my world and life. Some important, some random - like most of the blog really :)

1) I'm not sure I'm liking this new blogger layout/templates etc. I dont do change dammit!

2) I had a blog post all drafter on my iphone and ready to post...and the iphone died losing it forever :( I will try and repost the gist of it at some point.

3) New York was AMAZING! Again I have a couple of posts in mind and havn't got round to them. Yes I know I suck. One in particular will be about movie sets and/or Greenwich and its wonders.

4) How addicted am I to Drawsomething? Even with my sucky drawing skills. I loves it!

5) Equally addicted to Pinterest...come join me on there, its awesome!

Follow Me on Pinterest

6) Due to said addiction with Pinterest I am currnetly on a Buffy and Doctor Who revivial. But I am being good about watching them as I am currently obsessed with Dharma and Greg, although it is a pain to have to watch them online. Grr.

7) My sister got engaged! Happy times! Kind of a weird one to deal with but none-the-less I am super excited and happy!

8) "Some dates are a waste of good make up" ....just don't ask about that front.

9) Work is killing me. 10 hour days, crazy amounts of work. Its just not on. Can I be a professional blogger/pinterester/facebooker/twitterer and just sit with my coffee in front of a computer all day? Although have to say HOW proud am I of myself and my manager for getting TWO of our runners interviewed on the BBC on Marathon Day?! (Clue: Very)

10) Mumsies big 5.0 birthday was on Tuesday and we went to see Sweeny Todd. Go see it, its amazing! (And I promise not overly gory at all - trust me, I hate all gore)

So ummmm yeah that's about all my updates for now. These are things that I am/was going to do blog posts on and if I don't get round to it, at least they are here in bitesize chunks of info. Because I know how much you need to know every detail of my ever so interesting life ;)

Right. Tea and Jaffa cakes now me thinks. Farewell gentle reader.

Day 6: Five Things You Can Eat Everyday

Mmmm going to talk about food...dangerous. Nomnomnom

1) Fresh bread (or at least warm) with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar dip
I LOVE vinegar. My dips are generally one part oil with about 5 parts vinegar! The warmer and fresher the bread the better. Mmmm I really could live on this forever!

2) Chocolate
To be fair, since I've been in America I've not eaten as much as I normally do. A few reasons: American chocolate sucks (sorry America - its true!) so I'm savouring my UK chocolate I brought with me. Some US chocolate is ok, but its the expensive stuff (naturally) There are a couple of stores here in FoCo that have British Chocolate but because of import fees etc they're horrendously overpriced in my opinion and I cant bring myself to do it!

3) Fish and Chips
Nomnomnom! Best take away food EVER. Again, with the chips practically swimming in vinegar. And a saveloy on the side. Mmmm! I'm so glad theres a "British" Fish and Chip shop here in FoCo. Its not quite the same, but still really good. Not to mention the fact that my baby makes damn good Fish and Chips!

4) Nice cuppa' tea
Everything can be solved with a nice cup a tea. Tea wake you up in the morning, gets you through the work  day, comforts you when your ill and de-stresses you in horrible situations. It can even revive the Doctor and the TARDIS. Magical stuff!

5) Biscuits/cookies
I felt the need to clarify with cookies as I am talking about sweet, normally chocolate covered biscuits that are to be dunked in the aforementioned Nice cuppa tea! This is as opposed to the bread like fluffy biscuit that comes coated in sausage gravy.

Hehe, whilst looking for this picture of David Tennant I found this excellent one too. We'd have such a great first date...sorry Codaniel, I'm kidding I promise! (He is on my list though...)

Happy New Year!

Oky doky! Welcome to a New Year. New start, new challenges, new-ness in general! :)

Looking at the lovely Ninna's blog I thought I might do a quick re-cap of 2009, Sarah style! To be honest I'm not really sure I remember everything that happened. But here are a few bits and pieces I remember from each month.

Before that though...I must bid a sad farewell. Goodbye and Adieu to my beloved.

Goodbye to David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. His final show was yesterday. No spoilers I promise but all I will say is you will be sobbing. *Sniffs* Im actually watching boxsets now to try and get through this awful time.

Although Christopher Eccelston had a VERY special place in my heart it was like that of a first love. However David will always be my true love. He is my Doctor and I just dont feel I will be able to cope.

I am ashamed to admit that seeing the trailor for the new series made me want to see it HOWEVER it is because of the stories (Stephen Moffatt is a genius). The Weeping Angels look set to make a reapparence. But Matt Smith totally has his work cut out to even enter my periphery as an acceptable doctor.

January
After watcing the fantabulous Jim Carey in "Yes Man" I decided to become a 'Yes Girl'. I'd had a long period of being rubbish and unsocialble so I decided that unless I had a good reason not to I would say Yes to things more! (Technically this was around December time but nothing much interesting happened in January!)
February
We got Mitchell! Can't believe we've had our gorgeous lil' kitten for nearly a year now. Well he's not really a kitten anymore. But he is gorgeous still. This is him doing a "Sid" from Ice age impersination!

March

My 22nd birthday! Excellent night out at Kokosn costume. Overal a very good night that offered huge boosts to my self esteem :) Followed by another lovey night out at Luna Lounge restaruant where everyone - boys included - wore bright red lipstick! hehehe :)

April

Riaz and Jamal, my friends twins turned one! They are two of the cutest kids in the world and I love them to bits. I just realised that at the turn of the next decade they will be in secondary school. And we will be 32! Scary thought...

May

May...may...may. Not much happened to be honest. It was my mums birthday on the 1st. Oh! May may well (forgive the awful pun) have been the month I was finally seduced by Wide Awake. Still not finished it though. Loss of momentum and all. However thanks to Pharmers wonderful-ness I will hopefully be able to print it out and re-read it from the start in its entireity.

June

Italy! Went to Italy for Nura's wedding. Had an absolutly fantastic time! Much drinking, much dancing, much laughing. Sadly much rain but luckily her Wedding Day was beautiful. Certainly set the standards for Oliver's Wedding this year! :) Also began the joke of "I love my Girlies" being "I love..." Well lets just say something else. Thanks again for that guys!

July

Lots of things happening. Started driving lessons, Janna left to live in Paris for a few months, baking cookies with Alaya, Zakiyyah my very talented friend graduated Uni and also went to Lyme Regis with mumsie! Lots of fun in the sun during the summer of '09!

August

More fun in the sun! Daytrip to Eastbourne to celebrate Holly's 21st birthday. Super fun with my girlies! (Dispite a minor bleeding then throwing up incident and ghost stories in the car on the way home)

September

Month of many running events. Great North Run with Lisa, Nat and Kirsty - thank you so much to you girls for working so hard! And super proud of my mum, Carol and sister for completing the adidas Women's Challenge. Well done guys!

October

Had a super fun time giggling about Charlie and Candy Mountain whilst squeeing about our new found love that is Johnny Flynn! hen Halloween. My official day of moving on :)Fantastic night overal, had so much fun! And FYI dark shots in test tubes will always be dangerous. hehe!!

November

My Events Management Course came to a very succesful culmination. Our pitch was amazing. On top of that me and the girls have decided on our business. Its going to be hard work but we're confident about it. Exciting times!

December

Christmas of course. New Years eve. The month I started this blog. And on the 20th one year since I joined the Lex and discovered the joy that are my Lexlings! Becca, Honey, Jasmine, Megan, Sonia, Misty, Maria, Ninna, Tilly and Cody. I am so glad to have each of you in my life. And to everyone else who I chat to and hope to get to know better in 2010.

So there it is. My 2009. Actually a lot better than I remember it. I've obviously been focussing too much on the negative.

Here's to 2010 being an even better year. This time next year I hope to be able to report new job, new home, passing my driving test and maybe even new person in my life...

And I WILL do because I have decided this is going to be a GOOD year! Woo hoo!

And I hope every single person I know and love does too. Happy 2010 everybody! xxx
